Shimo-shakujii, in Tokyo's Nerima Ward, is where Chihiro Iwasaki spent most of her career as an artist (1952-1974). This atelier was moved to the second floor when she expanded her house in 1963, and was used for another 11 years until the artist's death. Chihiro created numerous works while viewing the trees from the big windows facing south, or the planters with seasonal flowers located on the veranda. This atelier has been restored to the way in which it appeared around 1972.
