Suekichi Akaba, who started his career as a picture book artist at the age of 50, was also very active as an opinion leader in the field of Japanese picture books throughout his life. In this exhibition we will feature approximately 120 picture book originals, including works from Suho no Shiroi Uma (Suho’s White Horse), as well as sketches and other related materials, showcasing the dramatic world that Akaba created, and to introduce how he went about creating picture books brimming with imagination.
